This is such a sharp and necessary callout. The misuse of “propaganda” to dismiss anything that challenges comfort zones or asks us to sit with discomfort is so intellectually lazy. Literature isn’t meant to coddle us it’s meant to stir, question, and sometimes even unsettle. If a book provokes emotion or tension, that’s not manipulation it’s working as art should. Thank you for articulating this with clarity and fire.

thank youuu, and the fact is, 95% of all humans would UNKNOWINGLY fall for propaganda because thats what it is. It isnt obvious and out there, we shame germans for falling for hitler's promises but most of us wouldn't hold out in late 1930's germanyy

I think this piece of yours is thought provoking but I also think people are allowed to read into the undertones of a book or an essay and grasp what they get out of it. There's a reason why there's one Bible yet tons of different religions based on a single book. People can think for themselves. That's why writing is so important

Yes, but what i'm talking about is superficial ideas that follow a "trend" rather than real thoughts. Look at the note I posted, when re-stacking this post, the example i gave is what I'm trying to convey. I have absolutely no problem with people grasping different ideas from literature, my problem is with contorting an idea or phrase to suit today's ideas rather then changing our worldview for a minute to try and understand the author's message before forming our own ideas

It feels too similar to politics, as in if one side come up with a generally good idea, the other side will shut it down because 'they're the enemy'.
